TYPESETTER
Position Description and Applicant Criteria
D.O.P.E. Publishing is looking for a Typesetter to support authors and aspiring authors with getting their dreams on paper. It's a freelance position, so you can take on as much or as little work as you can effectively commit to completing. As a D.O.P.E. Typesetter, you must be able to format edited manuscripts in Adobe InDesign and produce both ePub and mobi files for clients.
D.O.P.E. manuscripts are typeset twice: once after the initial electronic edit (bulk of the work is completed during this stage) and again, following the print proof edit (minor changes and corrections are made during this stage).
THE ESSENTIALS OF AN IDEAL CANDIDATE:
Attention to detail is an absolute must.
Experience with Adobe InDesign and producing both ePub and mobi files is a must.
Bachelor’s Degree and/or certification in applicable content area preferred.
Strong history and years of experience as Typesetter or similar role preferred.
Advanced degree in related field also welcome.
Must have Adobe InDesign software installed already.
Customer service and interpersonal relationship-building skills are necessary with strong verbal and written skills.
Must be open and flexible with making edits/changes to typeset manuscript per client request.
Must be willing to complete a skills assessment and present a before/after of a typeset manuscript.
