Position Description and Applicant Criteria
D.O.P.E. Publishing is looking for a Copyeditor & Proofreader to support authors and aspiring authors with getting their dreams on paper. It's a freelance position, so you can take on as much or as little work as you can effectively commit to completing. Editing jobs range from 10,000 words to 100K+ words but are priced by the page at approximately $4-6/page. Projects range from as short as 30 pages to as long as 200 pages.
D.O.P.E. Publishing services writers at all levels from novice to advanced, as well as multiple genres from self-help, fiction/non-fiction, and memoir to poetry, informational, biography, and children's books. D.O.P.E. publishes both e-books and hardcopy books, so copyeditors and proofreaders will need to be able to edit both electronic manuscripts and print proofs of books.
THE ESSENTIALS OF AN IDEAL CANDIDATE:
Strong command of spelling, grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure is a must.
Strong history of content editing, copyediting, line editing, and proofreading experience preferred.
Knowledge of style guides required.
Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Fine Arts, or related area of study preferred.
Advanced degree in related field also welcome.
Customer service and interpersonal relationship-building stills are necessary with strong verbal and written skills.
Must be willing to complete a skills assessment.
